Rare and collector's item this fender telecaster 52 vintage series made in 1982 and the original black guard book never opened bearing the same serial number ....
Unobtainable and unique in the world !
I find from time to time a guitar that is not "vintage" for purists, yet this Telecaster that celebrated its 40th anniversary is certainly part of Fender's history and certainly deserves its "vintage" designation.
This Fender Telecaster of the Vintage Series was one of the first Fender "reissues", briefly manufactured from 1982 to 1984 when the company began to return to building what made it successful, a handful of these Vintage series were built daily and 6 models were available.
In these 80s a group of Fender executives launched a project to reissue specific models to prove that they could return to pre-CBS quality.
This led to these instruments being carefully crafted reproductions of 1950s and 1960s classics produced in the original Fullerton, California factory.
These Fullerton-made instruments became highly sought after in the years that followed and are rare, especially in such condition.
These series were much closer to Leo Fender's original designs than anything the Fender company had built since 1966.
The Fullerton reissue era was unfortunately short-lived, lasting only from 1982 to 1984, as Fender was then sold by CBS and moved to a new factory in Corona, California in 1985.
These Fullerton guitars, built on some of the old machines dating back to the 50s and 60s, are prized today for their rarity, and their direct connection to the original Fender company.
This guitar and the Vintage Series were not only a return to a reverence for Leo Fender's original guitar design, but also some of the last guitars made at the original Fender factory in Fullerton, California. Fender had brought back Fender personnel in 1980 and pushed to return to a stricter level of quality and respect for the original designs. In 1985, Fender was purchased by a group of investors, and everything changes again...
Designed as a faithful copy of the original 1952 Telecaster, the 1982 52 Vintage Series reissue features a 21-fret one-piece maple neck, vintage-sized frets, a Butterscotch Blonde finished ash body, a black pickguard, an original-style 3-saddle brass bridge and all flathead screws, something not seen in Fender for 30 years. This 1982 “blackguard” Telecaster is one of the jewels of this short-lived Vintage Series line made by Fullerton.
It was perhaps the signature model of the entire series, a statement by the Fender company that they intended to return it to its original glory. Although a popular model at the time, it is a rare find now, nearly 40 years later, in this superbly preserved, near mint condition.
This instrument has been collected since new and comes with all paperwork, hangtags, accessories and also comes with an original mint copy of Nacho Baños' famous Blackguard Book.
The book has the same serial number as this 52 Vintage Series Telecaster and is in mint condition. These books are rare and can sell for up to $1000 online...

This guitar is all original, the 3-way pickup selector switch is even wired in the 1952 "Mud cap" format, true to the original. Parts are included to fit the guitar with a 6-saddle adjustable bridge and "modern" wiring. The body edges are just a little rounder than an original '52 and the neck a little thinner in profile, but overall this guitar is a commendable attempt (the first of many!) to recapture the "Blackguard" magic of the 1950s. Our guitar is in near mint condition and shows only the tiniest traces of polishing cloth, very little playwear and a microscopic inlay or two here and there. It's also one of the lightest Telecasters we've owned, at 7 pounds.
Usually these early 80s vintage reissues were heavy guitars. This one is a crazy light, resonant instrument and it's a joy to play this little gem
